At Direct Local Health, we have three Directors leading the organisation, providing strategic vision in driving transformational change and improved health care in our local area.
Dr David Zemmel
MA MBBS DRCOG MRCGP
Director, Chair, SIRO
David has over 10 years’ experience as a GP in Bushey and Watford. He previously completed his GP training scheme locally and worked in many departments of Watford General Hospital.
David is our executive director and chair of Direct Local Health, the Watford and Three Rivers GP Federation and is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the organisation, taking Clinical Leadership on the GP Extended Access Services. As our Serious Information Risk Owner (SIRO) David has overall accountability and responsibility for information risk and policy.
Dr Nicola Kemp
Director, Caldicott Guardian and IG Lead
Nicki has over 15 years experience working as a GP in Hertfordshire. Prior to this she undertook her GP training in the area and worked as a junior doctor in Watford General Hospital.
Nicki is an executive director for the Federation, and provides Clinical Leadership on the Urgent on the Day and transformational change projects. She is also responsible for helping to develop the strategic direction of the organisation, and developing local collaborative working. As part of her role she also represents DLH on the board of the Hertfordshire wide federations, HertsOne, and represents that federation with the STP.
She is a current Health Foundation fellow on the GenerationQ programme.
Outside of work she spends a lot of time on the football touchline watching her sons, and also enjoys running.
At Direct Local Health Ltd we have a vibrant team of eight staff running our Ophthalmology, Extended Access and Integrated Urgent Treatment services and fostering closer collaboration within our Federation.
Chief Operating Officerfficer, IAO
As the Chief Operating Officer, Ashley is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, performance, planning, financial and business management of Direct Local Health. Ashley played a major part in the roll out of Extended Access across Watford and several other projects including delivering Winter Pressures appointments and the “GP in A&E” project. Ashley’s work with the Federations also encompasses the role of Head of Finance and Operations for the HertsOne Federation.
Lead for Watford Extended Access, Data Protection Officer
April’s role within DLH includes leading on GDPR implementation and data protection matters as Data Protection Officer and in an Operational role as Lead for Watford Extended Access. April also acts as Buddying Lead for Federations and works on the operationalisation of the Integrated Urgent Treatment Service transformational change project.
Lorna’s role within DLH includes analysing data from the Watford Extended Access service and facilitating monthly practice remittance payments. Lorna also provides HR support and has delegated responsibility for minute taking at Board meetings.
Ophthalmology Team Administrator
Judith’s role within DLH includes administrating the community Ophthalmology service and facilitating NHS Eye Care clinic sessions at Boots. Judith also provides telephone assistance in arranging patient appointments and sends correspondence.
