Following a pilot service that ran 1st December 2017 - 29th April 2018, we are pleased to announce that our GP Federation has been re-appointed by HVCCG to manage a GP in A&E Streaming service at WGH A&E this autumn/winter.

The service will run between 1st October 2018 and 30th April 2019.

The 'GP in A&E' service

Patients self-presenting to WGH A&E that are suitable to be seen by a GP are ‘streamed’ as appropriate to the GP by an A+E streaming nurse. The GP will then see these patients in the Minors area of A+E, or CED, in a designated cubicle.
DLH will be working very closely with WGH over the coming months to adjust and improve upon the service, in managing operational issues and updating the GP Streaming pathway. We think these sessions offer an exciting opportunity for our local GPs to work in the A&E environment and to strengthen GP/secondary care relationships and begin to embed an integrated service
